Meeting and sharing experiences with other women (and men) in similar situations helps reduce anxiety and isolation. It can be the first step to find solutions to problems which may seem unique and insurmountable. We have found that peer support and collective self help are a lifeline especially when statutory and voluntary services are being so drastically cut, and times are harder for everyone. Women coming to the Centre are from all walks of life and from very diverse backgrounds – younger and older, of different races and ethnic backgrounds, LBTQ women, women with disabilities, mothers and carers in different situations. We come together to exchange information, work together and support each other.
